Cranberry Salsa Burger

Ingredients

175 mL picante sauce ¾ cup
250 g whole cranberry sauce 8 oz
7 mL finely grated orange peel 1 ½ tsp
60 mL Western Family orange juice ¼ cup
2 mL dried mint, crushed ½ tsp
500 g Western Family Beef ground chuck 1 lb
1 red onion, fi nely chopped
15 mL peppercorns, crushed 1 tbsp
125 g Swiss cheese, thinly sliced 4 oz
4 whole wheat hamburger buns

Preparation

Mix salsa ingredients together in saucepan, reduce over medium heat until mixture is chunky. Set aside to cool.

In a bowl, mix together beef, onions, and crushed peppercorns.

Form patties and grill over medium heat until internal temperature is 160ºF (70ºC) or no pink remains. Top patty with cheese and continue heating until cheese is melted. Place patty on bun and top with cooked cranberry salsa.
